Faith and Action outreach events are the first steps in building relationships. One of the ways Faith and Action does this is by distributing winter coats and accessories. Since 2014, we have received and sorted approximately 5,000 gently used coats that have been donated through Burlington’s Coat Drive. The need for children’s coats is greater than Burlington’s Coat Drive donations so we are thankful for area churches and groups that collect coats to help us fill this void. After sorting and quality inspection, we’ve distributed over 3,000 warm coats and accessories to underprivileged individuals living in Roseland, Chicago Heights, Englewood, and Hopkins Park. Thanks to donations and church knitting groups, the recipients also receive hats, gloves, and scarves.
By assisting people with their physical needs, we are given the opportunity to share the gospel message. Bibles and devotional books are distributed to each coat recipient.
